Adverse Weather Plan

In the event of adverse weather conditions, travelling to and from school may become more difficult. All SLC schools have plans in place which includes a priority pathway to and from the entrance gate. Janitors therefore are under instruction as to where and when gritting is necessary. At Udston Primary, the priority gate is the MUGA entrance (Route 1). However, if weather conditions are particularly treacherous, the priority route is the front pedestrian gate (Route 2). The back gate would not be used in Adverse Weather Plans.

Every effort is always made to open the MUGA gate, where possible. We will however aim to update families in the event that the MUGA gate is closed, using the school App &/or Twitter).

The Adverse Weather Plan arrangements for before 9am are the same as our current timeline during COVID-19 restrictions.

In the event of insufficient numbers of staff being in the building at 9am, a decision regarding any potential school closure would be made at the time and families notified accordingly (usually via our App & Twitter).

Adverse Weather Plan 2

Due to the high winds, we are putting adverse weather plan 2 in action. Please enter via the front door at 3pm, where you can collect your children from their class.

Boys’ football is still going ahead and boys at the club should be collected at 4pm at the front door.

We have been advised by SLC that all schools and nurseries will remain closed tomorrow (Thursday 1st March) owing to the Red Weather Warning issued this afternoon. We will post any further updates to our Twitter page and the school website as we receive them. We hope all families are keeping nice and warm and having fun in the snow!

world book day

Our planned World Book Day celebrations for tomorrow are postponed and will be rescheduled for another day next week (TBC). We know a lot of effort has gone into costumes and the Homework Challenge and we will look forward to seeing and celebrating the children’s hard work next week!

SLC have made the decision to close all schools and nurseries today (Wednesday 28th February) owing to the worsening weather conditions. Please keep checking SLC’s website and Twitter page for further updates throughout the day. We will aim to inform families of any other important updates via our school website and Twitter page as we receive them. Stay safe and warm everyone!

Adverse Weather Update

important update

As you may already be aware, there is an Amber Alert in place for some areas of SLC and weather conditions are expected to be changeable. Please be advised that SLC are continuously assessing weather conditions and would ask families to remain up to date with the authority’s website. We will also endeavour to update the school website, where possible, as well as sending a text message to all families on the system. However, please be aware these may be slow to come through due to the high volume of messages being sent. Currently all schools will be opening tomorrow (28th February) unless advised otherwise. In the meantime, please keep checking Twitter and we would recommend that children do not arrive at school until just before 9am, unless attending Breakfast Club. Many thanks.
