World Book Day

On Thursday we celebrated The Power of Reading at Udston!

At three points throughout the day we had ten minutes of ‘Drop Everything And Read’ time.

Pupils had the opportunity to design a superhero mask, based around the theme of reading, to wear during the day!

Our Pre-Entrants from The Barnehage and First Steps came to visit for some paired reading with some of our P5 pupils, who will be their buddies next year.

Room 7 go back in time!

Thank you so much for all the family support this morning for Room 7’s Victorian Showcase.

Families were asked to walk along the corridor, in silence, led by two extremely strict teachers. They were then entertained with songs, times tables and even the dunces hat!

Well done to all the boys and girls, and Mrs Cowden, you were amazing!

Scots Language Week – Homework Task!

Next week (20th – 24th January) is Spotlight on Scots Language Week. This special week involves pupils taking part in a range of Scots-based learning experiences across the curriculum.
We would like to invite all pupils to research a Scots poem, song or story and to practise their chosen piece at home with you. Pupils do not have to learn their poem, story or song off by heart – they can bring a copy of it in with them to share with their classmates. Pupils will get the opportunity to share their chosen piece with their class next week. A selection of pupils will then get the chance to perform their poem, story or song at our special assembly on Monday 27th January.

Our Nativity dress rehearsal went really well this morning, with Rooms 5-12 being a fantastic audience. Rooms 1 – 4 are looking forward to performing in front of their families tomorrow and Wednesday!

Class Drop-In Session

We would like to invite all families to our class drop-in session on Monday 26th August 3.15-3.45pm. This is an opportunity for you to visit your child’s classroom and meet their teacher. If you are unable to attend, any information shared at the session will be sent home via your child’s bag. We hope to see lots of you there!
