Book Week Scotland – ‘Guess the Selfie’ Competition
Next week (23rd November) marks the start of Book Week Scotland 2015. To raise awareness of this special week, and for a bit of fun, our Website Committee members are running a ‘Guess the Selfie’ competition. Children are invited to take a photograph of themselves hiding behind their favourite book – their classmates and teachers will then try and guess whose ‘selfie’ belongs to whom. If possible, children should print their ‘selfie’ and bring it into school. Alternatively, they can email their ‘selfies’ to gw14udstonpsinfo@glow.sch.uk. If children are unable to take a photograph, they can participate by drawing a picture of themselves holding their favourite book. Entries should be submitted by no later than Thursday 26th November.
This is a great opportunity for children to get reading and is a fun way of sharing their favourite books with their peers. We really appreciate your support with this competition and we will enjoy looking at the ‘selfie’ entries in class and at next week’s assembly.
Below are some examples from our Web Committee…
Children in Need – Friday 13th November 2015
A Message from the Enterprise Committee & Pupil Council
Next Friday (13th November) is Children in Need and once again Mrs Hamilton, Mrs Fearnside-Brogan and the Enterprise Committee and Pupil Council have been busy planning a day of fun to raise money for this worthwhile charity. Please read on to find out what their plans are…
Dress Up Day
On Friday 13th we are inviting children to come to school dressed up in some way. This year’s Children in Need theme is ‘superheroes’ so, if possible, children can embrace this theme and come as their favourite superhero. If this isn’t possible, children can come to school in their own choice of fancy dress, or even with crazy hair – the choice is theirs (no pyjamas allowed!). We would ask that children who come dressed up bring a £1.00 donation to go into the collection buckets.
Children in Need Activities
Children will also have the opportunity to take part in various Pudsey-themed activities on the day which each cost 50p. The activities include ‘Guess the Bear’s Birthday, ‘Guess the Number of Sweets’, ‘Beat the Goalie’ and more.
Many thanks for supporting our Children in Need Day!
