World Book Day 2017

Thursday 2nd March is World Book Day and to celebrate this special day, children have the option of coming to school dressed as their favourite storybook character. For simple and inexpensive dressing up ideas, please visit www.worldbookday.com/dressing-up/.  We would ask that a £1.00 donation is brought into school for any child who chooses to dress up. All monies collected will go to Book Aid International who work in partnership with libraries in sub-Saharan Africa providing books, resources and training to support reading. For more information, please visit http://www.bookaid.org/aboutus/.

We would really like children to think about why they have chosen to dress up as a particular character and what it is about the character or story that makes it their favourite. Children will be provided with a short writing template for homework at the beginning of next week and we would ask that, even if they choose not to dress up on the day, they take the time to think about and write down their answers. Children will get the opportunity to share their thoughts with their classmates on World Book Day and should bring their homework task into school on this day.

Your child has also been provided with a World Book Day Book Token which will allow them to get their free £1 book or get £1 off any book or audiobook costing £2.99 or more. Tokens can be redeemed at thousands of independent bookshops, Waterstones, WHSmith, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco stores.

We will update our school website with our World Book Day celebrations following the event.

Many thanks for your continued support!
