Well done to everyone for a super Sports Day on Friday and a HUGE thank you to all our parent helpers.
Well done to KELVIN, our winning house!
A very warm welcome back to our P7s and Mrs Henry, Mrs Shaw & Miss Brown who were away at Ardentinny last week. We are looking forward to seeing the photographs and hearing everyone’s news and stories from their Ardentinny adventure.
Last week, we received training from Reading Cloud – a fantastic online Library Management resource which children will be able to access both in school and at home. This new system allows us to catalogue all of our Library Books onto an electronic database and books will be signed in and out using a scanning system. Families will be able to log into Reading Cloud from home and search our database to see all of the books on offer to children in our School Library. Children will also be able to write and share reviews, watch author videos, get recommendations and suggestions for what to read next, make requests for new Library Books, and discover the vast selection of authors and titles available to them. The new system will also create an electronic Reading Record for each child which will record every book the child borrows and reads from the Library during their time at Udston Primary. Your child will be provided with a Library Card which they will take along to their Library session each week to be scanned. They will also shortly be provided with a bookmark which has their login details for Reading Cloud to enable them to access it from home. More information regarding this will be provided soon. In the meantime, our School Library is currently out of use to classes whilst we scan and upload all of the books (and there are 1000s of them!!) onto the system. We are aiming to have the Library back up and running as quickly as possible.

Today marks the start of Health Week at Udston Primary. As you already know, Health and Wellbeing is firmly embedded in daily school life at Udston and having happy, healthy pupils is of paramount importance to all staff. Whilst pupils are continually experiencing new learning in Health & Wellbeing throughout the year, this special week gives pupils and staff the opportunity to focus on specific aspects of Health & Wellbeing in class.

Many thanks to all of the families who made it along to support our Sports Day today – despite the slightly cooler conditions the children performed brilliantly and most importantly really enjoyed themselves! The winning Sports Day House will be announced at our next assembly.
Owing to a staff meeting, Boys’ Football Club and Netball Club will not be on after school on Thursday (28th May). They will resume as normal next week.
Many thanks for your understanding and have a fantastic holiday weekend!
Tomorrow is our Sports Day from 9.30 at the Jock Stein Centre. Children should come to school wearing suitable outdoor sports clothing and footwear. Unless the weather is extremely wet or windy, we are planning to go ahead therefore children should come to school prepared for being outdoors. Could all children please bring a bottle of water and a healthy snack with them. If there are any changes owing to weather conditions we will update you via the website.
If at all possible, could children please wear an item of clothing in their House colour (if not please don’t worry!):
Belhaven – Blue
Fleming – Green
Wellcroft – yellow
Kelvin – Red
Many thanks (fingers crossed for sunshine!)
