This week marks the start of Book Week Scotland 2016 and to celebrate this event, the whole school will be using Peter Pan by Scottish author J.M. Barrie as a theme for learning in Literacy and other areas of the curriculum. Children will be given Peter Pan homework next week to complete for Friday. In keeping with the book’s classic story of the boy who never wanted to grow up, we will be asking children to chat to their families and think about what they would like to be when they grow up!
To celebrate the end of Book Week Scotland, on Monday 28th November, we would like children to come to school wearing something inspired by Peter Pan along with their uniforms. For example, something linked to one of the characters e.g. Peter Pan, Wendy, Tinkerbell, Captain Hook, Nana the dog, the Lost Boys, etc. Please do not buy full costumes, we want to make this as simple and inexpensive as possible for families. You can even make something if you would like!
Our Eco Committee are also planning a Book Swap for Friday 25th November so children are welcome to bring in any books throughout the week that they don’t use any more!
Our Primary 1 families will receive their Bookbug Family Packs and Primaries 1-3 will receive their Read, Write, Count family packs. An accompanying letter will be sent home explaining how to use these.
