COVID-19 – Community Wellbeing Line

important update

South Lanarkshire Community Planning Partnership

A new helpline is now available for individuals living in South Lanarkshire who are self-isolating/vulnerable and whose usual support network is no longer available.

The helpline will help people to access food and other essential supplies.  The Community Engagement Team within the council have been working  along with VASLAN to collate activity which is happening within communities, and to make contact with new groups and networks which are developing in response to the current situation.

Community volunteers are playing a key role in supporting the people around them.  This includes helping transport essential goods such as food to people who cannot leave their home, carrying out welfare checks where there was a concern expressed about the wellbeing of someone, and offering telephone befriending to those who are isolated.

The helpline number is 0303 123 1009 and the opening hours are as follows:-

Monday to Thursday 8.45 – 4.45

Friday 8.45 – 4.15

Saturday and Sunday 8.45 – 4.45

Please pass this information on to any people who are self-isolating/vulnerable and don’t have any other support networks available. If you have any questions about the helpline please email communities@southalarkshire.gov.uk

SLC are seeking volunteers!

If you are interested and have some time to help our communities please email communities@southlanarkshire.gov.uk

Home Learning

home-learning

A very warm welcome to Udston Primary School’s Home Learning Page. Firstly, we hope all of our wonderful children are safe, healthy and happy – we miss you all!

Behind the scenes, our fantastic Teaching Staff have being working hard to create relevant revision activities for our learners and have posted these in their Class Pages. Teaching Staff are also currently adding appropriate learning activities, based on these revision areas, to each child’s Education City Classwork Folder – we will notify families once this is available. We are sure you are aware that Education City have been experiencing technical issues due to the high volume of users accessing the site. They have assured us that they are working hard to rectify this issue. As you know, we are updating Twitter multiple times a day and sharing some fantastic educational links and ideas. We have collated these in the ‘Ideas & Links’ section of our ‘Home Learning’ area.  If you have any difficulties accessing Education City, please choose another idea from our suggestions until it is back up and running. Miss Arneil has also put together a Digital Learning Home Revision Guide for P1-7 which you can access below.

We would like to reiterate that the Health & Wellbeing of our pupils, and you, their families, is what matters most to us. Spend time together as a family, talk, play, read, laugh, listen to some music, dance, watch your favourite film or cook dinner together. Do not put yourself, or your children, under pressure to complete the suggested revision activities. We understand, however, that you might be looking for some ideas and guidance so we have provided these Home Learning Revision documents as a helping hand. Please click on your child’s class to access these.

Most children should be aware of their learning groups e.g. for phonics & spelling word lists, if you need a reminder please email gw14udstonpsoffice@glow.sch.uk.

If you would like to share what you are up to at home, please tag us on Twitter @Udston_Primary.

Stay safe and well everyone – we hope it won’t be too long before we are all reunited!

Love,

The Staff at Udston Primary School :-)

Important Update!

very important

SLC have advised that school will be open Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th March from 9am-3pm (lunch included), in the first instance, to children of Category 1 key workers only. Category 1 key workers include:

  • Health and Care workers supporting COVID and associated staff
  • Health and Care workers supporting life threatening emergency work
  • Critical primary and community care provision
  • Energy suppliers
  • Staff providing childcare for other category 1 staff (i.e. teachers, and all other support staff including facilities)

If your occupation is listed above and you require childcare on Monday and Tuesday, please email the School Office on gw14udstonpsoffice@glow.sch.uk as soon as possible – please do not phone as we are currently dealing with a high number of calls. Please include in your email:

  • Your full name
  • Your child/children’s name(s)
  • Your occupation

If your child is entitled to a Free School Meal, this includes all P1-3 pupils as well as those who currently receive Free School Meals in P4-7; lunch will be available to collect for these pupils between 12.30-1pm via the School Dining Hall entrance. To give our kitchen staff an idea of numbers, please email the School Office on gw14udstonpsoffice@glow.sch.uk  to request a lunch for your child/children. At this point in time, we are unable to provide exact details about what the lunch choices are. We appreciate your continued support and understanding at what is a very challenging time.

P7 Leavers

important update

With the announcement of school closures at the end of this week, we are very aware that this could possibly be our Primary 7 pupils last week of school. We would like to reassure all P7 pupils and families that, if this was the case, we would ensure your child’s time at Udston Primary is celebrated and that they experience the traditions of being a Primary 7 Leaver. Although there is a lot of uncertainty right now, one thing we are sure of is that your child will receive the special send off they deserve, whatever that may look like.

Please find an electronic copy of the letter families received on Monday regarding Education City access. Children who were in school received another copy of their username and password. If you are unsure of your child’s login details for Education City, please email the School Office on gw14udstonpsoffice@glow.sch.uk.

Please remember that your child also has access to Easimaths via Glow. Whilst this tends not to be used as much in school in the infant stages, our middle and senior pupils are familiar with this programme. If you would like a reminder of your child’s login details, please email the School Office on gw14udstonpsoffice@glow.sch.uk.
