welcome_back

A very warm welcome back to our P7s and Mrs Henry, Mrs Shaw & Miss Brown who were away at Ardentinny last week. We are looking forward to seeing the photographs and hearing everyone’s news and stories from their Ardentinny adventure.

Reading Cloud

Last week, we received training from Reading Cloud – a fantastic online Library Management resource which children will be able to access both in school and at home. This new system allows us to catalogue all of our Library Books onto an electronic database and books will be signed in and out using a scanning system. Families will be able to log into Reading Cloud from home and search our database to see all of the books on offer to children in our School Library. Children will also be able to write and share reviews, watch author videos, get recommendations and suggestions for what to read next, make requests for new Library Books, and discover the vast selection of authors and titles available to them. The new system will also create an electronic Reading Record for each child which will record every book the child borrows and reads from the Library during their time at Udston Primary. Your child will be provided with a Library Card which they will take along to their Library session each week to be scanned. They will also shortly be provided with a bookmark which has their login details for Reading Cloud to enable them to access it from home. More information regarding this will be provided soon. In the meantime, our School Library is currently out of use to classes whilst we scan and upload all of the books (and there are 1000s of them!!) onto the system. We are aiming to have the Library back up and running as quickly as possible.
