eco logo We are delighted to inform everyone that our school has successfully renewed its Eco-Schools Green Flag Award status. Well done to everyone for their continued hard work and commitment in making Udston an environmentally-friendly and sustainable school. Our report from Eco-Schools Scotland commented that “we are a very good example of inspiring people to take action to make positive changes”. We will be proudly displaying our new flag beside our existing one in school.

Scots Language Week Homework Task

To Parents/Carers,

You may already know that 19th-23rd January is Scots Language Week which will involve pupils taking part in a range of Scots-based activities in literacy and other curricular areas.

We would like all pupils to research a Scots poem, song or story this week (13th January) and practice their chosen piece at home with you. Pupils do not have to learn their poem, story or song off by heart – they can bring a copy of it in with them to share with their classmates. Throughout Scots Language Week, pupils will get the opportunity to share their chosen piece with their class. A selection of pupils from each class will get the chance to perform their poem, story or song at our assembly on Friday 23rd January.

Today we were given some complimentary tickets from Hamilton Academicals Football Club for their match against Dundee United FC on Monday (12th January) at 7.45pm. Names of pupils who attend our boys’ and girls’ football clubs were drawn from a hat and those successful received 2 tickets. If your child was successful and you cannot attend this match, please send the tickets back in with your child on Monday as we have a waiting list!

Many thanks and enjoy the match!

We are looking forward to registering the children scheduled to start Primary One in August 2015. The parents/carers of children who are 5 years of age between 1st March 2015 and the end of February 2016 are required to register their child at their catchment school.

Families are most welcome to come along to the school between 9.30-10.30am and 1.30- 2.30pm from Monday 12th January – Thursday 15th January 2015 to register their child.

Gym Shoes

This term in P.E. pupils will be focusing on gymnastics and, as we are sure you will agree, health and safety is of great importance. Please could you check with your child that their gym shoes still fit properly and are in a suitable condition to enable them to take part safely. We would also ask that pupils remember to bring full kit with them on their P.E. days as well as a bottle of water.

Many thanks for your support in this matter!
